Hey there! I’m Allison, a photographer with a love for capturing real, heartfelt moments. When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me hanging with my two pups, enjoying great food with my boyfriend Cody, or making people laugh with my terrible puns.

Meet Allison Barrett- the person behind the camera.

THE PHILOSOPHY...REAL MOMENTS, REAL YOU

In order to create the perfect photograph, I feel the subject needs to be almost unaware of the camera, enjoying life in the current moment, while only looking up occasionally at the lens. These can be moments of free spirited adventure, dancing, hugging a loved one, creating their art- sharing a memory. Yes, the standard stop and stare photo like the one you see to my left can be great, but what will separate me from the other photography experiences is the ability to craft a collection of moments- both authentic and posed, to fill your walls albums with emotion.

I have learned over the years that most people are terrified to have their photo taken. (yes, I can be too!) I want to eliminate that stress, thus why I provide more of a prompted pose experience. I feel that when the subject is too aware of the camera and their body, it can lead to very stiff posture, and scared faces. I bring intuitive humor and conversation into our sessions, to help you comfortable and make the experience overall enjoyable.

MORE THAN JUST A PHOTOGRAPHER

It’s not just about taking photos; it’s about making you feel comfortable and supported. At weddings, I’ve found myself stepping into roles like a dress buster, last-minute seamstress, and even a coordinator—anything to help the day run smoothly. Being there for my couples and their families in those extra ways means the world to me, and I’m proud to go the extra mile to make sure everything feels just right.

If you're interested in booking, I'd love to set up a consultation call so we can break the ice and answer any questions you may have! I fully believe in phone calls over texts and emails, to keep the spirit of human interaction lively, so we don't feel like total strangers when I show up to capture you moment. For regular sessions with flexible dates, you can schedule an inquiry call here. For weddings, events or things with no date wiggle room, please send those details via email here.

A LITTLE ABOUT MY JOURNEY

I graduated from Hallmark Institute of Photography in June 2016. Hallmark is a 10 month intensive program with 1400 clocked hours spent learning and practicing photography, video and business management. After graduating I worked as a freelance photographer in CT, honing in on the art of wedding and portraturephotography.

In 2018 I started a job with Billy Black as an assistant/editor for luxury yachts all over the world. The travel and adventure life truly felt like a dream I will never forget. It taught me about commercial photography/videography and inspired me to get a Part 107 drone license. However, in 2020 as the world shut most of our lives down, I had lots of time to reflect on my passions. Yes, the adventure lifestyle was great, but I loved capturing the authenticity of real people and moments, that I felt like I was missing out on. Thus, Allison Barrett Photography re-launched in the RI area in 2021!

Currently, I live in Warwick, RI with my pups Ellie (11), Roxie (new rescue puppy) and partner Cody. I previously lived in Newport for 6 years, gaining knowledge on the best photo locations and making local connections. While Warwick has been a nice upgrade to a big yard for the pups, I look forward to moving back to Aquidneck island in the future.

"Allison was probably my favorite vendor that we worked with for our wedding. I am generally not comfortable taking candid/non posed photos and she made us feel so comfortable. I never once felt awkward while working with her. The sneak peak photos arrived within a few days of the wedding and were stunning! She also provided so many sneak peak photos which I have been told is uncommon. I will absolutely be using her again in the future!"

This is Ellie, My rescue pup of 11 years and new rescue puppy Roxie. If I could buy a saddle bag and have them carry my gear on all of our sessions together, I would.

This is just about my standard expression from behind the camera. You know what they say; If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life.
